2026 Youth Program Goal
We believe the best way to teach young people about money isn't from a textbook- it's by giving them the keys to a real business.
Through the Kuleana Collection project, students step into the shoes of founders, makers, and financial stewards.
Building Something on Their Own:
Mastering the Craft: Students learn the intricate Japanese Shibori tie-dye technique, folding, binding, dipping, and revealing 1-of-1 original patterns.
Running the Studio: They aren't just making product; they manage inventory, calculate costs, pack shipments, run market booths, and talk directly to customers.
Learning "The Split": Through every sale, makers practice dividing their earnings into four dedicated buckets: Give, Save, Spend, and Invest. They learn how habits built today create long-term independence for tomorrow.
When you hold a Kuleana Cloth, you hold a tangible representation of a young person discovering what it really takes to build something from the ground up.
Where Your $15 Goes.

You receive a 1-of-1, hand-dyed Shibori cloth

The maker receives their wage and practices financial allocation

Proceeds fund materials, workshops, & scholarships for the next cohort.

Students gain confidence, business acumen, and real-world tools
What people say when it arrives

I love my new tie dyed dish towel!
Not only does it create a bright spot in my kitchen, it is oversized and perfect for drying all those big pots and pans. I have washed it multiple times and the colors stay bright and cheerful. The towel is very absorbent but dries quickly also. Truly a great kitchen helper!

Oh what a beautiful blue towel can do!
Have you seen the latest??? Check out the brightly colored Kuleana Cloth that can add just that bit of extra color to your home! Put it under a bouquet of flowers to show them off, hang it on the stove handle for an easy to reach towel, use as a lovely dust cover on your laptop, or, can you guess??? No end to the possibilities!"

The tie-dye design provides a wonderful retro aesthetic, and the material is excellent for drying both dishes and hands.
I am so pleased with the quality that I plan on ordering several more soon. These will make excellent gifts for friends who are typically difficult to shop for.
I truly believe in your mission to provide communities with the practical business skills they need to succeed.

Handcrafted by youth entrepreneurs
90 cloths. Made and named by the Nashua PALS. 70 left. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

After mastering their Shibori dye techniques over the summer break, our student cohort studied their finished collection and voted on a name that captured their collective creative vision: Summer Flowers at the Beach
No two cloths are identical. Each piece carries the distinct touch and effort of the student who crafted it.
Batch two is in production — 360 cloths, new patterns, a new name chosen by the young people who make it. Subscribers see it first.
Every batch is made by a new group, who choose its name. New patterns, new name, never repeated
